The Problem

If you think this pandemic isn't real, you're part of the problem.

If you think it's overblown and much ado about nothing, you're part of the problem.

If I can see your damn nostrils, you're part of the problem.

If you don't respect other people's rights to be able to live and work and play and worship in a safe, comfortable environment as much as you value your own, you're part of the problem.

If you've hosted or attended a large gathering without taking proper precautions to ensure the safety of your family or the people you work with, you're part of the problem.

If you think that mask wearing, physical distancing and being outdoors are an "either-or" proposition rather than compound preventative measures, you're part of the problem.

If I can still see your damn nostrils, you're still part of the problem.

If you've shamed or ridiculed someone for taking whatever precautions they deem suitable to protect themselves or their families, you're part of the problem.

If you're casting blame on public officials for imposing restrictions on your community that were prompted by your selfishness, carelessness and lack of responsibility rather than taking ownership of the consequences of your own actions, you're part of the problem.

If you've spent the last 250 days doing only the absolute minimum you can get away with as opposed to striving for the absolute maximum within your power, you're not just part of the problem — you are the problem.

Be the solution — to the absolute best of your ability. Not the problem.

  1. Bravo, James! Eloquently stated! Here's hoping it reaches enough eyes to eradicate "the problem!"
